Kansas City catcher Pat Donahue had a 4-RBI game, which helped his team beat the Los Angeles Angels, 12-2. Wayland Dean earned the win for Kansas City. He lasted 8.1 innings, allowing 2 runs on 5 hits, while striking out 11. With the win, he raised his record to 8-7. The Athletics now own a record of 33-37.
With Kansas City leading 8-2 in the bottom of the fifth, Donahue came up to bat against Los Angeles pitcher King Cole. Donahue hit a fastball to right for a grand slam home run. His 12th home run of the season put the Athletics on top, 12-2.
"It was full throttle on our side," said Donahue.
