Victory Takes Dodgers to 13-7
|
The Detroit Tigers and Los Angeles Dodgers provided some drama for the home crowd.
The Detroit Tigers wasted an inspired, 7-inning effort from starter Mark Redman, falling 2-1 to the Los Angeles Dodgers at Tiger Stadium. Kevin Tapani got the win, improving to 2-2. He held the Tigers to 1 run on 6 hits over 6 innings, while striking out 3 and walking 0. Picking up the save was Paul Erickson, his 1st.
Mike Umphrey, the 26-year old second baseman , had a direct impact on the outcome. Umphrey contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the fifth inning to put Los Angeles up, 2-0.
"I like what I saw today," said Los Angeles manager AJ Senators, "and I can't wait to get back out there and do it again."
Los Angeles, now 13-7, has played well in the early going.
