Birkbeck Deals Emeralds 1-0 Shutout Saturday, June 4th , 1983 Eugene dropped a 1-0 shutout to Mike Birkbeck and the Medford A's at Miles Field today. The Emeralds offered little resistance to Birkbeck, who stopped them on 2 hits, fanned 11 and walked 0. "It just felt right today," the right-handed Birkbeck told reporters after the win. "Even with the rain, it didn't throw me off my rhythm." Checking out his stats for the season, Birkbeck has notched 7 wins and 4 losses in 12 starts, 2.45 ERA and struck out 96 batters in 99.1 innings. |
