Demery Shackles Niagara Falls Monday, May 23rd , 1977 In an outstanding outing, Utica Blue Jays starter Larry Demery tamed the Niagara Falls Pirates with a 5-hit shutout at Hyde Park Stadium today. The Utica hurler went the distance, finishing with 5 strikeouts and 2 walks in the 5-0 win. "He had a lot of first-pitch strikes and kept us off balance with a lot of off-speed stuff," according to Niagara Falls manager Matthew Perry. "We just didn't get too many balls squared up today." Demery has made 10 starts this season, posting 7 wins and 3 losses. Opposing clubs are batting .225 against him and he has 84 strikeouts in 84 innings with a 3.00 ERA. |
