Senators Whitewashed by Smallwood Monday, September 6th, 1971 Burlington dropped a 7-0 shutout to Wallace Smallwood and the Peninsula Phillies at Peninsula War Memorial Stadium today. The Senators offered little resistance to Smallwood, who stopped them on 7 hits, fanned 10 and walked 4. "It just felt right today," the right-handed Smallwood told reporters after the win. "Even with the rain, it didn't throw me off my rhythm." This year Smallwood has a 13-16 record with a 3.69 ERA. |
