Clements Gets 5 Hits Tuesday, August 14th , 1984 Dave Clements put on a hitting clinic today at American Legion Stadium, spraying hits all over the ballpark and lashing Gastonia pitchers for 5 hits in 5 at-bats. However, the offensive onslaught wasn't enough for the Florence Blue Jays, who still fell, 15-11. "Sometimes I try to pull the ball too much, so today I just went with the pitch," Clements told reporters after the game. "It's great to get 5 hits, but it would have been nicer to win the ballgame. too." Dave Clements singled in the 2nd, doubled in the 4th, hit an RBI double in the 5th, singled in the 7th and doubled in the 9th. So far this year Clements is hitting .292 with 14 home runs. |
