Adamson Tames Rainbows, 3-0
Wednesday, August 15th , 1990
It wasn't easy but the Sumter Braves made it look that way.
Starter Joel Adamson shut out the Charleston Rainbows despite having what he later called "sub-par" stuff, and the Sumter Braves cruised to victory, 3-0. Adamson allowed only 5 hits and rang up 9 strikeouts but insisted later that he did not deserve primary credit for the win.
"It didn't feel quite right today, but I got a lot of help to get through," he said. "I trusted my catcher and the guys behind me bailed me out more than once when I screwed up."
Adamson has started 33 times this year, pitched 202.2 innings, fanned 198 batters and walked 59. His current record is 14 wins and 7 losses with a 2.49 ERA.
