Murray Smashes 3 Homers for Charleston
Friday, September 7th , 1984
The old superstition that "bad news comes in threes" certainly came true for the Columbia Mets today.

Charleston left fielder Steven Murray tripled up on the home runs to propel the Royals to the 17-10 win at Citadel College Park.

"We had our chances to win the game, but we just didn't come through," Columbia manager Johnny Edwards said. "Murray hit the heck out of the ball."

In addition to the homers, Murray collected 3 hits in 3 at-bats, 4 RBIs and scored 6 runs.

"Easy swings get you home runs," he said after the game. "I kept telling myself not to press. They have to be nice and easy swings."

Steven Murray walked in the 2nd, hit a two-run home run off Jim Unknown in the 3rd, walked in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off Jim Unknown in the 6th, walked in the 7th and hit a solo-shot off Jim Unknown in the 8th.

So far this year, Murray is batting .261 with 6 home runs and 23 RBIs.
