Kuntz Batters Spokane for 5 Hits Saturday, September 11th , 1982 Hawaii right fielder Rusty Kuntz could do no wrong in today's 16-5 win over the Indians as he collected 5 hits. "Things were in his favor in every one of his at-bats," Indians skipper Jesse Brewington said to the press corps after the game. "He got hitters' counts." Kuntz agreed, saying that getting ahead early in the counts was "the key" to his game. "Once you get ahead, it makes it a lot easier because you get a better pitch to hit," he said. "You know the pitcher has to come in with it. And you're ready." Rusty Kuntz hit a solo-shot off Jim Unknown in the 1st, hit an RBI double in the 2nd, tripled in the 4th, singled in the 5th, hit an RBI double in the 7th and flied out in the 8th. Kuntz on the season is hitting .319 with 17 home runs. His stats include 73 RBIs and 105 runs scored. |
