Fuentes Launches 3 HR for Toros Sunday, September 5th , 1982 Mike Fuentes went on an explosive hitting spree against the Spokane Indians at Fairgrounds Ballpark today, launching a trio of blasts to lead the Tucson Toros to the 17-7 win. The left fielder finished 3-for-5 with 4 runs scored and 3 RBI. "It was just one of those days," Fuentes said in a postgame interview. "I don't know how to explain it. I'm just putting a good swing on the ball." Spokane skipper Jesse Brewington said Fuentes was "locked-in." "We made some pretty good pitches," he said. "Those first two homers were exactly where the pitcher wanted to put them. He's just hot right now -- you've just got to tip your hat to him." Mike Fuentes struck out in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Jim Unknown in the 2nd, walked in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off Jim Unknown in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off Jim Unknown in the 7th, walked in the 8th and grounded out in the 9th. Looking at his stats this year, Fuentes has compiled a .355 batting average, while hitting 4 home runs and driving in 11 runs. He has played in 6 games and scored 9 runs. |
