Player of the Week: Portland's Moreno Monday, August 30th , 1982 So far in his young career, Armando Moreno has kept a low profile, but after his performance at the plate last week, he attracted the notice of the rest of the Pacific Coast League in a big way as he was named the Player of the Week today for his efforts. The 18-year-old Portland Beavers second baseman hit at a torrid .462 clip as he collected 12 hits in 26 at-bats, 3 home runs, 12 RBIs and 10 runs scored. Looking at his stats this year, Moreno has compiled a .318 batting average, while hitting 17 home runs and driving in 70 runs. He has played in 81 games and scored 67 runs. |
