Blunt Holds Portland Scoreless
Tuesday, August 7th , 1990
It wasn't easy but the Colorado Springs Sky Sox made it look that way.
Starter Bradley Blunt shut out the Portland Beavers despite having what he later called "sub-par" stuff, and the Colorado Springs Sky Sox cruised to victory, 6-0. Blunt allowed only 3 hits and rang up 14 strikeouts but insisted later that he did not deserve primary credit for the win.
"It didn't feel quite right today, but I got a lot of help to get through," he said. "I trusted my catcher and the guys behind me bailed me out more than once when I screwed up."
This year Blunt has made 23 starts, thrown 152.1 innings, fanned 149 batters and walked 103. His won-lost record is 6-13 with a 5.49 ERA.
