Saturday, September 19th , 1981
Hawaii left fielder Mike Calise had a big day at Hi Corbett Field today against the Tucson Toros. The 24-year-old, who is not typically considered a big threat with the bat, went 5-for-5 and led the Islanders to a 15-8 triumph over Tucson.

"Hey, I'm as surprised as you guys are," Calise said in his postgame comments, smiling as he scolded the press corps for underestimating him. "Maybe I'm not so bad at the plate after all."

Mike Calise hit an RBI single in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 2nd, hit a solo-shot off Rip Rollins in the 4th, hit an RBI single in the 6th, hit a two-run double in the 7th and walked in the 9th.

Thus far this year Calise has hit .314 with 19 home runs and 103 RBIs.
