Roberts Belts Bunch of Base Hits Friday, August 26th , 1983 5 hits in a game is a rare thing, but Charleston's Bip Roberts made it happen today against the Chiefs. Everything came together at the plate for the 19-year-old second baseman as he collected 5 hits in 6 at-bats -- and led the Charlies to a 18-8 win at Watt Powell Park. "I'm just out there to try and help the team win," Roberts said after the game, "I had some real good at-bats today. I made good, solid contact and luckily no one caught 'em." Bip Roberts walked in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, flied out in the 4th, hit a two-run double in the 5th, doubled in the 7th and hit a three-run double in the 8th. So far this year in 126 games Roberts is hitting .347 with 10 home runs, 94 RBIs and 93 runs scored. |
