Brantley Excels in 9-4 Seattle Win
The Seattle Mariners trumped the Texas Rangers, 9-4, at Ameriquest Field in Arlington. Seattle left fielder Michael Brantley was terrific. He was 4-5 with a home run, a triple, and 2 singles, while scoring 2 and driving in 5. Erasmo Ramirez got credit for the win, improving to 15-6. He allowed 4 runs on 9 hits in 5.2 innings. The Mariners improved their record to 91-66 by beating Texas.

With Seattle leading 5-4 in the top of the seventh, Brantley batted against Texas pitcher Jason Monti. Brantley hit a fastball to left-center for a 2-run triple. His 3rd triple of the season put the Mariners on top, 7-4.

"You can't take yourself too seriously," Brantley told the Seattle Observer. "But at the end of the day, we do play to win ballgames."
