Kansas City Rallies for 3-2 Win
|
In a low-scoring contest between the Kansas City Royals and the Cleveland Guardians, two-time All-Star Ed Yarnall proved to be the difference. The Kansas City left-hander earned props for his performance in the 3-2 Royals win. Yarnall, now 6-17, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 8 hits, while striking out 9, walking 2, and allowing 2 runs. The last-place Royals lifted their record to 65-89.
Had it not been for Jed Lowrie, the results might have been different. In the top of the eighth inning, when the Royals were trailing 2-1, Lowrie hit a 2-run single for Kansas City, giving his team the lead.
"I had one goal in mind," said Yarnall. "Keep pounding the zone."
