Mets Rally For 6-5 Win
|
The Philadelphia Phillies got a superb performance from pitcher Cole Hamels. Still, it wasn't enough to beat New York. The Mets won the game, 6-5. Hamels threw 5.0 innings of 2-hit ball. Carlos Martinez was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 29 of 29 save opportunities. New York is in first place in the NL East Division with a record of 80-62.
New York used a clutch hit from Dexter Fowler to snatch the win. The pinch hitter belted a 3-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Mets ahead, 6-5. It was his only hit, but it was huge.
"I'm not out here to win a beauty contest," said Fowler. "Obviously."
