Nationals Do In Pirates, 6-4
|
The Washington Nationals knocked off the Pittsburgh Pirates, 6-4, in NL action at PNC Park. Washington pitcher and The United States, native Brandon Kintzler had an outstanding performance. By defeating Pittsburgh, the second-place Nationals improved to 67-70.
Randy Ruiz, who led the AL in doubles with 53 in 2003, chipped in a 2-run home run for Washington in the top of the fourth. For the game, the left fielder had 2 hits in 3 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 2 runs scored, and 2 runs batted in.
"When you win, you always have confidence," said Washington skipper Jacob Sussman. "Nobody likes to lose. Losing is a downer. That's how we look at it. It's always good to win."
