Rangers Win, 6-2, Over New York
|
The Rangers grabbed a win, 6-2, at Yankee Stadium, overcoming a fine effort from New York pitcher Jason Davis. Davis went 6 innings and allowed 1 run. David Pauley was the winning pitcher. Over 6.2 innings, he allowed 1 run on 9 hits, with 3 walks and 2 strikeouts. Texas is in last place in the AL West Division with a record of 56-69.
Texas used the timely hitting of Alcides Escobar to seize the win. The shortstop stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Rangers on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"We'll put this win in our pocket and go after the next one," said Escobar.
