Nelson Cruz was at the head of a New York hit parade at SkyDome. The right fielder went to the plate 5 times and came away with 5 hits, sparking the Mets to a nice 12-9 victory over the Toronto Blue Jays.

"I told the guys in the dugout, just be thinking about hitting the ball hard somewhere," the sweet-swinging Cruz told reporters after the game. "Seems like it worked out well for us today."

Blue Jays skipper Ethan B said later that the club gave up "too much plate."

"Not the way we planned it," he said. "Every hitter in the league will rip you when you do that."

Nelson Cruz hit a two-run double in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off Brian Irving in the 6th and hit a two-run home run off Jeff Beliveau in the 8th.

For the year, Cruz has hit at a .310 clip with 41 RBIs, 13 home runs and 27 runs scored.
