Speaking after the game, Reno Silver Sox manager Mario Vasquez said "Appier had everything going for him today. He changed speeds effectively, stayed down, had a lot of movement. He was masterful."

"We couldn't get anything going. He certainly had our number," San Jose manager Rafael Guitron told reporters.
