Pirates Double Up Brewers, 6-3
|
Though he had a terrific game, Michael Bourn could not prevent his team, the Milwaukee Brewers, from absorbing a loss. Pittsburgh won the game, 6-3. Bourn went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Ernesto Frieri, the winner, improved to 7-5. He held Milwaukee to 1 run on 5 hits over 5.2 innings, while racking up 6 strikeouts. Pittsburgh has an impressive 62-31 record.
With one out in the bottom of the first, Justin Morneau barreled up a slider from Homer Bailey. The result was a 3-run home run, putting the Pirates in front, 3-1.
Afterward, Milwaukee manager Kev Jones said: "We've hit a rough patch."
