Still Kicking: Pittsburgh Cut Tampa Bay Series Lead to 3-1 With Late Win
Already down in the World Series, the Pittsburgh Pirates put on their best show, beating the Tampa Bay Rays by a final score of 8-5 today. Mark Kotsay was special. He was 2-5 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3. Pittsburgh now trails Tampa Bay 3-1 in the best-of-7 affair.

This game was not decided until Jason Lane came to bat in the top of the tenth. With runners on 1st and 3rd and no one out, the Pittsburgh designated hitter grounded out, driving in 1 run. The Pirates took the lead, 6-5.

"We were a little off-kilter to start the series, but we're getting things figured out now," Pittsburgh manager Ryan Donaldson told reporters. "At least I hope we are."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Thursday, October 23rd , 2008.
