Rays Win Again, Extend Series Lead to 2-0
With first baseman Watson Matos leading the charge, the Tampa Bay Rays got past the Pittsburgh Pirates, 7-4, in extra innings in Game 2 of the World Series today. Matos went 4 for 6 with a double, 3 singles, and a walk, while scoring 3 at PNC Park as Tampa Bay managed to take a 2-0 lead in the best-of-7 series.

Joe Mauer's hit in the top of the 12th was a game-changer. With one out, he rapped a fastball from Jonathan Broxton for a 2-run single. It put Tampa Bay in front, 6-4.

"Exciting game to play in," said Mauer. "Getting the win makes it even better."

The next game is set to be played for Tuesday, October 21st , 2008 at Tropicana Field.
