New York Beats Houston in World Series
|
The New York Yankees ignited a huge celebration as they beat the Houston Astros 7-2 to win the World Series.
New York won the series 4-2, capturing the title for the 21st time.
"We stepped it up at the right time, and now we're the champs," said New York manager Jordan Smith. "It's a great feeling."
The champs finished the regular season 105-57 and claimed first place in the AL East Division.
In the jubilant clubhouse after the decisive game, series MVP and third baseman Gregg Jefferies said the Yankees have "great fans and they deserve this."
"I am so happy for our city right now," he said.
