Reds Clip Expos 4-3 in WC Contest
The Cincinnati Reds and the Montreal Expos will take the Wild Card to a decisive 7th game. In a must-win situation today, the Reds beat the Expos 4-3 at Olympic Stadium 1977-2004 to force the series into what will essentially be a one-game playoff. Cincinnati left-hander Frank Newcomer had a big role in the win. He threw 5.0 innings of 4-hit ball.

The outcome might have been different for Cincinnati, had it not been for Tony Gwynn, the two-time All-Star . Gwynn stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put Cincinnati up, 4-3. For the game, he was 3 for 5, including 1 double and 2 singles.

Expos manager Jeff Drummond did not take questions after the game, telling assembled reporters that he would hold a press conference "if and when we win the World Series."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Olympic Stadium 1977-2004 in Montreal.
