Faron Holds Angels Scoreless
In an outstanding mound performance, Modesto A's starter Robert Faron fired a complete-game shutout against the Palm Springs Angels at Angels Stadium today.

Faron was the key to the A's's 1-0 win. The 26-year-old right-hander was in high spirits on the mount for much of the game, his mood largely undented by the 2 hits and 1 walk he allowed.

"2 hits?" he said with a laugh following the game. "Listen, I'd be happy with a 30-hitter as long as it was a shutout."

Presently Faron has a 10-3 mark in 16 starts with a 1.19 ERA. He has given up 89 hits in 136.1 innings, struck out 80 and issued 23 walks. Opposing clubs have compiled a .181 batting average against him.
