Baltimore Wins, 3-2
|
Baltimore turned a good effort from starter Clint Nageotte into a win over the Washington Nationals at Nationals Park. The Orioles won the game, 3-2. In 8 innings, Nageotte surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 12 and walking 0. He allowed 2 runs. Antonio Batista closed the door for Baltimore, picking up his 10th save of the year.
Baltimore used a clutch at-bat from Brandon Belt to capture the win. The left fielder hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the Orioles ahead, 3-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
Nageotte said his team "played with determination."
The Orioles bumped their record to 37-33 with this win.
