Big Trade: Tilson for Mercedes Monday, November 27th , 2023 Fighting Falcons and Iron Horses fans woke up with quite a jolt this morning as the two clubs announced a major swap. Eugene has traded 30-year old LF Charlie Tilson to Syracuse, while 31-year old 2B Melvin Mercedes will be joining Eugene. The streets of Syracuse filled with excitement over the deal today. It's all anybody was talking about. Meanwhile in Eugene it was a more of a subdued wait-and-see atmosphere. The players are expected to be with their new clubs today. Tilson has compiled a career batting average of .296 with 175 hits, 4 homers and 56 RBIs. Mercedes has a lifetime .253 average and .345 on-base percentage in his career with 152 hits, 19 doubles, 4 triples, 17 home runs, 72 RBIs and 81 runs scored. |
