Nationals Cruise to Round 3 with Sweep Wednesday, October 4th , 2023 Many baseball pundits expected a close series in the Fuego Fusion Conference World Series. It turned out quite a bit different. The Caracas Nationals swept aside the La Guaira Gateway to advance to the Round 3, winning the final game by a 6-1 score at Nationals Park. The series MVP was third baseman Jesse Hodges, who hit .429 with a .600 on-base percentage. He had 1 home runs, drove in 3 RBI and scored 4 runs. "We expected this series to go right down to the wire, so to sweep is a bit of a surprise," he said. "But we'll take it."
