He started 30 times, threw 199 innings while collecting 231 strikeouts and fashioned a 1.85 ERA. Deal allowed only 154 hits, 39 walks and a .210 opponents' batting average. He received 10 first place votes out of a possible 18. Yeizo Campos of the Granada Tigers finished second in voting with 8 first place votes, while Daniel Corcino of the La Romana Toros finished third.
