Big Bang! 3 HR for Albuquerque's Aiello
Friday, August 25th , 2023
John Aiello brutalized the Gwinnett Stripers pitching staff, launching three home runs in today's 10-4 victory at Coolray Field. The Albuquerque Isotopes center fielder was red-hot, the ball just exploding off his bat all day.
"I don't try to hit homers," he said later. "I try to go out there and put a good swing on the ball, and sometimes it is going to go out of the park. I didn't try to hit the first one or the second one or the third one."
For the game, he went 3-for-5 with 6 RBIs and 3 runs scored.
"Too much John Aiello today," Stripers manager Matt Tuiasosopo said. "That's my assessment of the game. That's what our problems boiled down to."
John Aiello hit a three-run home run off Brian Van Belle in the 1st, struck out in the 3rd, hit a two-run home run off John Parke in the 5th, struck out in the 6th and hit a solo-shot off Curtis Taylor in the 9th.
This season Aiello has delivered 45 hits in 180 at-bats for a .250 average with 12 home runs. He is getting on base at a .335 clip and his totals also include 33 RBIs and 28 runs scored. This year Aiello has played in 85 games.
