Hits Galore: Querecuto Drills 5 Hits Saturday, August 19th , 2023 A jubilant Juniel Querecuto joined the postgame press conference at AutoZone Park today to offer some unusual words of encouragement -- for the Mississippi Braves pitching staff he had just vanquished. "It may not have looked like it," said the Memphis Redbirds shortstop, "but I saw some awful good pitches today. If luck hadn't been on my side it might have turned out a lot different." That would not have been the conclusion of anyone who saw his dominant 5-for-6 hitting performance, which led the Redbirds to a 16-1 win. "He made it look easy," said Kanekoa Texeira, manager of the Braves. "We never figured out what to do with him. Obviously." Juniel Querecuto grounded out in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 4th, hit a three-run home run off Domingo Gonzalez in the 6th, hit a two-run home run off Domingo Gonzalez in the 7th and hit an RBI single in the 8th. Thus far this year Querecuto is batting .290 with 13 home runs, 63 RBIs and 66 runs scored. |
