Aces Wins, 8-0, as Walston Mystifies Hillsboro Saturday, June 17th , 2023 The Hillsboro Hops manager was philosophical in the clubhouse following a shutout loss to the Reno Aces. The Hops were overpowered by Reno starter Blake Walston, who hurled his club to victory, 8-0. "It was just one of those games -- shake it off and do better next time," Ronnie Gajownik said. Over 9 innings, Walston blanked Hillsboro on 3 hits with no walks and 5 strikeouts. "I kept them off balance. I could tell a lot of them were late on fastballs because they were fouling them off. Once you see that, it sets them up for other pitches," Walston said. "I set them up, where if they chased one breaking ball, they were going to chase another one." So far this season, Walston has logged a 10-3 record with a 2.61 ERA. He has started 16 games, hurled 114 innings and registered 112 strikeouts and 27 walks. |
