No Hits for Garcia, Streak Ends at 26 Wednesday, June 14th , 2023 Late in the game, all eyes in Werner Park were on Maikel Garcia as he stepped into the batter box. His 26-game hitting streak was on the line, and he had a zero in the hit column on the day. Sadly for Garcia, it was not meant to be -- the zero would stay and the streak would end. If there was a silver lining for Garcia today, it was that his Omaha Storm Chasers won the game anyway, stopping the Columbus Clippers by the score of 4-3. "Winning took some of the disappointment out of it," Garcia told reporters in the clubhouse. "Looking back on it, it was a great experience. Not too many players can say they had a hit in 26 straight games. It's something I will always remember." This season Garcia is batting .351 with 9 home runs. He has scored 51 runs and driven in 38. |
