The Toronto Blue Jays topped the New York Yankees, 5-3, in American League action at Yankee Stadium. The game was highlighted by the performance of Toronto pitcher Kevin Gausman. Gausman, now 4-0, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 12, walking 2, and allowing 3 runs. Jordan Romano finished to wrap up his 8th save.

Toronto used the timely hitting of Daulton Varsho to capture the win. The center fielder socked a 2-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Blue Jays ahead, 4-3. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a big one.

"It's nice to come out on top today," said Gausman.

The win puts Toronto at 18-12.
