Padres Take Down Mets, 5-3
|
The Padres grabbed a win, 5-3, at Citi Field, overcoming a fine effort from New York pitcher Max Scherzer. Scherzer went 6 innings and allowed 1 run. San Diego reliever Brent Honeywell Jr. picked up the win, upping his record to 5-2. John Curtiss absorbed the loss. The 7th-place Padres have won 4 consecutive games.
Fernando Tatis Jr., the 24-year old right fielder , had a direct impact on the outcome. Tatis Jr. contributed a 2-run single in the top of the 15th inning to put San Diego up, 5-3.
"It's a satisfying feeling, to win like we did," said Tatis Jr..
