Reds Need Extra Frames to Get Past Cubs
The Cincinnati Reds topped the Chicago Cubs, 8-7, with first baseman Christian Encarnacion-Strand playing a big role. Encarnacion-Strand went 4-6 with a home run, a triple, and a double, while scoring 2 and driving in 2 for the Reds in the win. Cincinnati reliever Alexis Diaz was the winner. His record is now 4-4. The losing pitcher was Rowan Wick. Cincinnati is now 65-88, while Chicago is 60-90.

Encarnacion-Strand had a game-changing home run in the top of the 11th. On a 2-0 fastball from Rowan Wick, he banged a solo home run to center, giving the Reds a 8-7 lead. It was the 5th home run of the year for Encarnacion-Strand.

"It wasn't a pretty victory," said Encarnacion-Strand, "but we got it done."
