Cardinals Collect 4-2 Win Over Giants
|
Fans who congregated at Busch Stadium were treated to extra-inning drama.
St. Louis got a strong outing from Steven Matz as the Cardinals defeated the San Francisco Giants, 4-2, at Busch Stadium. Reliever Giovanny Gallegos picked up the win. His record improves to 2-4. Taylor Rogers took the loss.
The game ended with a bang. In the bottom of the tenth, with St. Louis trailing 2-1, Dylan Carlson jumped on a 1-1 slider from Taylor Rogers for a 3-run home run, sending the Cardinals to a walk-off win.
In postgame comments, Carlson said he was glad to contribute to an exciting win.
The win for the Cardinals lifted their record to 89-59.
