Bruins Score Late, Upend Red Aces, 6-3
|
The Louisville Bruins took Las Vegas pitcher Keyvius Sampson's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Red Acesdome. The final score had Louisville getting past the Red Aces, 6-3. Sampson went 7 innings and allowed 2 runs, striking out 13. The winner was Nick Ramirez in relief. His record improves to 2-4. Antonio Velez took the loss. R.J. Alaniz finished the game for Louisville and earned his 10th save.
Louisville used the clutch hitting of Ronny Ugarte to capture the win. The first baseman drilled a run-scoring double in the top of the ninth inning to give the Bruins the lead, 4-3. For the game, Ugarte had 2 singles and 1 double in 5 at-bats.
"We'll hit the hot tub in good spirits tonight," said Ugarte.
The win gives the Bruins a record of 16-129.
