The Richmond Rush defeated the New York Americans, 5-2, in American League action at Richmond Stadium. Richmond pitcher Ian Anderson had a standout performance. Anderson, now 1-0, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 3, walking 3, and allowing 1 run. The save went to Patrick Ruotolo, his 1st this season.

Eugenio Suárez had a big 2-run home run for the Rush in the bottom of the third inning. With Richmond leading 2-0 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a fastball from 25-year old left-handed pitcher Shane Drohan and punished it. The result was his 2nd home run of the season, which put the Rush on top, 4-0.

"I felt good up there," said Suárez. "I saw the ball well."

With the win, Richmond boosts its record to 3-1.
