Torreón Sweeps into the World Series
Many baseball pundits expected a close series in the Stripes Conference League Championship Series. It turned out quite a bit different.


The Torreón Thunderbirds swept aside the Hermosillo Sunrays to advance to the World Series, winning the final game by a 8-2 score at Hermosillo Grounds.

The series MVP was second baseman Omar Estevez, who hit .462 with a .632 on-base percentage. He had 2 home runs, drove in 7 RBI and scored 3 runs.

"We expected this series to go right down to the wire, so to sweep is a bit of a surprise," he said. "But we'll take it."

The World Series matchups and schedule will be announced after the League Championship Series finishes.
