Wesneski Now 1-0 Following 2-1 Win
|
In a tight contest between the Chicago Cubs and the St. Louis Cardinals, Hayden Wesneski was the determining factor. The Chicago right-hander sparkled in his team's 2-1 win. Jeremiah Estrada closed out the game, earning his 1st save. The loss puts St. Louis at 1-5.
Wesneski was in the zone all game. He frustrated St. Louis hitters while giving the Cubs 6.2 innings of quality work. Wesneski threw 87 pitches, allowing 1 hit and getting 6 punchouts.
"Hayden was throwing free and easy," said Chicago manager Chris Fetter.
