The New York Mets took St. Louis pitcher Tink Hence's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Busch Stadium. The final score had New York getting past the Cardinals, 4-3. Hence went 5 innings and allowed 4 runs, striking out 7. Max Scherzer picked up the win with 5 innings of work. He allowed 3 runs on 6 hits, while walking 4 and striking out 3. On the season, he is now 1-0. The Mets, now 2-0, have played some good baseball in the early going.
Tim Locastro had a direct impact on the outcome. Locastro contributed a 2-run single in the top of the fourth inning to put New York up, 3-1.
