Athletics Losing Streak at 6 After Extra-Inning Loss to Red Sox
|
The Boston Red Sox racked up a win at Oakland Coliseum, bumping off the Oakland Athletics, 6-4. Tanner Houck, who started for Boston, pitched effectively for his team. Boston reliever Joely Rodriguez picked up the win, upping his record to 3-1. Zach Jackson took the loss. Chris Martin notched his 7th save in 10 chances.
Boston needed the clutch hitting of Alex Verdugo to notch the win. The left fielder hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the tenth inning to put the Red Sox on top, 6-4. For the game, Verdugo had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"There's no quit in this team," said Red Sox manager Mike T Red Sox.
Oakland has now lost 6 in a row.
