Tigers Come Up Short at Kansas City, 3-2
|
Edward Olivares made an impact in the 3-2 Kansas City win over Detroit. Olivares went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 3. Daniel Lynch got credit for the win, improving to 4-3. He allowed 1 run on 3 hits in 3.2 innings. The 11th-place Royals sport a record of 73-89.
Salvador Perez dealt the Tigers a blow in the bottom of the fifth. Batting with runners on 1st and 2nd and Kansas City leading 2-1, Perez, who is a five-time Great Glove Award winner, hit a 1-1 changeup for a run-scoring single.
After the game, Kansas City manager Henri Richard applauded the team's effort. "They busted their humps out there," he said.
