Guest Twins Win, 5-3, at Houston
|
Minnesota Twins starter Sonny Gray pitched a strong game against the Houston Astros at Minute Maid Park, leading the Twins to victory, 5-3. The winning pitcher was Gray, now 16-7. He tossed 5 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 3 and fanning 5. Jhoan Duran closed the game out for Minnesota, earning his 33rd save.
Minnesota used a well-timed hit by Carlos Correa to capture the win. The shortstop socked a bases-clearing double in the top of the sixth inning to put the Twins ahead, 5-2. Though it was his only hit in 5 at-bats, it was important.
"I tried to mix it up, keep them off balance," said Gray.
With the win, the Twins have a record of 82-69.
