Great Day for Pons -- 5 Hits
San Antonio HS right fielder David Pons had a big day at Northmen Park today against the Las Vegas HS Stallions. The 14-year-old, who is not typically considered a big threat with the bat, went 5-for-6 and led the Northmen to a 13-1 triumph over Las Vegas HS.

"Hey, I'm as surprised as you guys are," Pons said in his postgame comments, smiling as he scolded the press corps for underestimating him. "Maybe I'm not so bad at the plate after all."

David Pons hit an RBI single in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, hit a two-run home run off Kuang-yin Wie in the 5th, struck out in the 6th and singled in the 8th.

Thus far this year Pons has hit .378 with 15 home runs and 75 RBIs.
