Texas Rangers starter Jon Gray turned in a sterling performance against the Houston Astros, leading his team to a slim 3-2 win. Brock Burke earned save number 33 this season. The win for the Rangers raised their record to 81-69.

Had Bubba Thompson not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Thompson hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Rangers.

"Jon just went about his business, throwing strikes," said Texas manager Juan Smith.
