Kansas City beat New York at Yankee Stadium, escaping with a 6-5 win. The win in large part was due to designated hitter Franmil Reyes. He went 1-3 with a home run and 2 walks, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Kansas City reliever Daniel Lynch picked up the win, raising his record to 3-3. Jonathan Loáisiga was tagged with the loss. Aroldis Chapman, credited with the save, is now 5 for 8 in save opportunities.

Kansas City used the timely hitting of Edward Olivares to seize the win. The left fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Royals on top, 5-4. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"We'll enjoy this win," said Reyes. "But there's more we hope to accomplish."

Kansas City now sits at 69-75, while New York falls to 78-66.
